James Duke is a touring and studio guitarist who has played on tons of our favorite worship albums over the past few years. From acts such as Elevation Worship to John Mark McMillan, James plays a variety of different styles and requires that his gear is very diverse and simple. While other guitarists such as Jeffrey Kunde and Nigel Hendroff have gotten a ton of publicity while using complex midi switching systems and pedalboards, James sticks to a fairly simple pedalboard that is centered around his Ibanez TS808HW Hand Wired Tubescreamer and Boss DD-20 Digital Delay pedal. Here are the other pedals he is currently using.
- Ernie Ball VP-JR
- JHS Modded MXR Dyna-Comp M102 (Ross Mod)
- Electro Harmonix Micro POG
- Bearfoot FX Honey Bee Overdrive
- Ibanez TS808HW Hand-Wired Tubescreamer
- JHS Morning Glory Overdrive
- Cusack Tap-A-Whirl Tremolo w/ Tap Tempo
- Walrus Audio Julia Chorus/Vibrato
- Chase Bliss Audio Tonal Recall Delay
- Electro Harmonix Deluxe Memory Man 1100-TT
- Boss DD-20 Digital Delay
- Boss TU-3 Chromatic Tuner
- Boss RV-5 Digital Reverb
- Old Blood Noise Dark Star Pad Ambient Reverb
- This1sMyne Tap Tempo Switch
Amp wise we have seen him use everything from small Gretsch tube amps with a 6.5″ speaker to his signature Badcat Stella amp. However most often we find James uses an AC30 in stereo with a Matchless Cheiftain.
He has a wide variety of guitars but recently he is seen with his Elliot Guitars 357 Guitar that appears to be a modified cross between a Jaguar and a Tele. He also uses a tele quite often. Below are some images we found on James’ instagram account. These images all appear to be a part of a collection of artistic tour photos you should also check out.
