Alot of you have probably noticed that not alot has happened on WorshipGtr.com for the past month or so. I wanted to provide some explanation on what has been going on at worshipgtr.com.
I have been on a long needed hiatus from leading worship and writing. Throughout this hiatus I found out a lot of things about not only myself but about the men and women God calls us to be as worship leaders and guitarists. For years I spent hours upon hours and evening after evening away from home. My wife and I’s relationship took the back burner because I was never there. I am so thankful that she has stuck with me as I have pursued my passion.
Around Christmas of last year we found out that we were pregnant with our first child. When I first found out it was like a switch going off in my head. I went from always worrying about how to reach the lost to how am I going to be the dad that God created me to be. As Emily’s pregnancy went on and we neared the final trimester it became very clear to me where I needed to be. It was tough to not write for worshipgtr.com and it was tough to see the site go silent for a while. I had to take care of my family though.
It was a good thing that I chose this because our son Noah Wilkes Lehman was born on April 21st exactly 4 weeks early. We spend 11 days in the N.I.C.U. and it was a huge blessing to be able to spend that time with my family and newborn son. He is home with us and doing great.
Enough about me. I decided just after Noah was born that I was going to write an article about family life. I have seen it in my own life and I see it all over social media and in the worship leaders and guitarists we interact with. Family takes last priority. We hold up ministry, helping others and shamefully enough our gear over our families. We spend hours upon hours researching the latest pedalboard setups but we cannot have a date night with our wives. Now maybe you do not struggle with this. Congrats you have figured it out. For the rest of us I strongly encourage you to take a look at what you are doing to spend time with your family.
It took me being completely removed then having an extremely emotional and powerful event to make me realize how important family is to my ministry. I do not want to see the same happen to you. Keep looking for ways to spend time with your kids and spouses and for all things that are holy pry your eyes away from the gear posts on instagram and put your phone down!!!!
As for WorshipGtr.com we are back up and running and have a ton of great things planned for the rest of the year. Thanks for your patience and prayers!
Be blessed!
